Horrible déjà vu

e5a43aba-0027-11df-8626-00144feabdc0.jpgDevastating images of Haiti’s earthquake remind me of another earthquake that changed the lives of so many of my relatives in Iran. It was a warm night on the 21st of June in 1990 when the world turned upside down in the Northern region of Iran. Manjil’s earthquake destroyed an entire region and wiped entire families off the face of the earth. I lost a loved one who was very close to my heart. My relatives lost their home, their businesses, their lands and everything they’d worked hard for generations. They were pulled from under the rubble and with as little as their sleeping clothes they left everything behind to start over again. And today they have rebuilt their home, they have continued their lives and their scars have healed. But the scars the earthquake left in their soul is still there. The empty space of our loved ones lost under the rubble is an aching big hole in our hearts. My thoughts and prayers are with the survivors of this horrible tragedy.

How Green I am Today..
